Mr. Charilaos G. Stavrakis (1956) is a Cypriot Politician and businessman and as of 29 February 2008 Minister of Finance.
Stavrakis is a graduate of Cambridge and Harvard.
Mr. Stavrakis has held many important positions in business and the banking sector including Senior Manager of Treasury International Services, Head of Strategic Planning and Business Development, Group General Manager International Banking and General Manager of CISCO, the investment banking arm of the bank. He has also served on the Board of Directors of the Cyprus Oil Refinery, the Bank of Cyprus (Australia), the Bank of Cyprus (Channel Islands), the Bank of Cyprus (AEDAK), the Bank of Cyprus (Mutual Funds), BOC Ventures. In 2005 he was appointed Chief Executive Officer for the Cyprus operations of the bank and Deputy Group CEO. He has also served as the president of the Board of Directors of the Electricity Authority of Cyprus.[1]
